We love all our graduates here at United Truck Driving School, and Tim is no exception! Our grads go on to do great work in the trucking industry and we love to hear from those who have transformed their lives since earning their CDL! Attending United helped Tim to start a new chapter in his career, and by sharing his story we hope to inspire others like him to take the leap!
Shifting Gears into a Brand-New Chapter
Before moving on to his new career in trucking, Tim worked in construction. After 20 years with the same company, and a company downsizing, Tim was left with the decision of where to go next.
“I’m 57, so when I was unemployed, I was so thankful that Christen, the owner of United Truck Driving School, had this available.”
“You know, when you’re my age and looking for a job, you start to get worried,” he stated, referring to being closer to retirement age. “so, the best thing about the trucking school is that it was available for me!”
Being interested in truck driving most of his life, he decided to dive in headfirst. With his children now grown, Tim was able to explore his options for earning his CDL and landed in the classroom of United Truck Driving School.
On the Road to a Brighter Future with United
“I thought the driving instruction was very good. When I was there, there was an instructor named Andre, and he was really incredible.”
At United, we ensure that our students get hands-on training and are ready to hit the road with confidence. Tim was able to take advantage of this opportunity by completing our Class A CDL program.
United also offers job placement services, allowing our students to build relationships with our trucking industry partners, creating a smoother transition into their career!
The Rubber Met the Road at Melton’s Truck Lines
Since finishing his CDL with United a few months ago, Tim has been working for Melton Truck Lines and really enjoying it!
Now that he’s completed his CDL exam, Tim is looking forwared to getting his manual certification as well, potentially transitioning into heavy haul trucking with hopes of working in construction equipment and other fields.
We are so excited for Tim, and wish him the best in his CDL career!
“It’s challenging, so if you’re looking for a challenge it’s a good opportunity. It’s [a lot of] physical labor, and so far I like it!”
